NCG member The James Irvine Foundation announced late last week that its board of directors had approved 13 new grants totaling more than $9 million.

“Of the $9 million, $4.5 million will fund the expansion of the California Linked Learning District Initiative as part of Irvine’s Youth program. $750,000 from the California Democracy program grant will fund Strategic Concepts in Organizing and Policy Education to conduct outreach related to state budget and fiscal issues. Additionally, a grant in the Arts program provides $300,000 to the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts to expand programming and audiences following the renovation of its facility.”

NCG member College Access Foundation of California “has announced grants totaling more than $4.5 million to twenty-six community organizations working to provide scholarships to low-income students in the state.”

“The organizations receiving grants offer college preparation, mentoring, and financial aid advice to students in urban and rural regions throughout the state.”

Earlier this week NCG member The California Endowment (TCE)  announced “an expansion of its longstanding support of minority-led nonprofits, with more than $1.4 million in new funding to strengthen grassroots organizations focused on improving the health and well-being of communities of color.”

TCE has “selected eight minority-led intermediary organizations with close ties to communities of color to administer grants under the new initiative.  The grants will range in size from $5,000 to $20,000 and will support an estimated 200 organizations across the state. ”
