#pkfloods isn’t a person or an organization or even a proper twitter account.

It’s a conversation thread.

Say again?

In the world of twitter, conversations are marked by a # (hashtag). For example, I also follow the #csr conversation which focuses on corporate social responsibility.

#pkfloods is the conversation thread for tweets about the floods in Pakistan, including news, information on disaster relief and even accounts from on the ground. Here are some of the recent tweets that have shown up on the thread (and the authors of those tweets):

PhotoPhilan
PhotoPhilan is the twitter account of PhotoPhilanthropy, an organization we blogged about earlier this year.

Founded in 2009 by Nancy Farese, who also founded NCG member organization Farese Family Foundation, PhotoPhilanthropy was “created to promote, support and connect photographers to charitable organizations around the world.”

PhotoPhilanthropy’s work is a wonderful reminder of the ability of photographs to tell a story, especially as more grantmakers and nonprofits look for ways to tell their stories of impact.

REDF_SF of course is none other than NCG member REDF (formerly The Roberts Enterprise Development Fund), a “venture philanthropy organization dedicated to transforming lives through the creation of jobs and economic opportunity.”

It is also very noteworthy to point out that REDF is one of the eleven national recipients of the first annual Social Innovation Fund grant awarded by the Social Innovation Fund.
