Ezra Garrett on PG&E’s Philosophy and Practice

NCG member Ezra Garrett, Vice President of Community Relations and Chief Sustainability Officer and  Executive Director of  PG&E Corporation Foundation was recently interviewed by Bruce Burtch as part of his Profiles in Partnerships blog series.

“The following series is one that I have wanted to write for quite some time.  During the period of 2005-2007 I had the privilege of being the director of marketing communications for the American Red Cross Bay Area chapter.  During that period I was involved in one of the most remarkable, most successful cross-sector partnerships in the country.  The partnership we developed between the American Red Cross Bay Area chapter and The Pacific Gas & Electric Company was focused on the singular concept that together we could considerably raise the preparedness level of San Francisco Bay Area residents for a major catastrophe, and most particularly, a devastating earthquake…

Recently I had the pleasure of sitting down with Ezra Garrett, Vice President, Community Relations and Chief Sustainability Officer, Executive Director, PG&E Corporation Foundation. We, of course, discussed in this extraordinary partnership and campaign, and we explored PG&E’s philosophy and practice of community relations.”

In the interview Ezra discusses PG&E’s disaster preparedness initiative Prepare the Bay, finding the right community partner for such initiatives, goals and engaging employees.
