California Association of Nonprofits Announces New CEO

The California Association of Nonprofits (CAN) has announced that Jan Masaoka has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer for the organization.

Jan is well-known in the both the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors as a leader, author, and presenter. Currently she is the Editor-in-Chief of Blue Avocado, a well-known online magazine for nonprofits that features thought pieces, articles on best practices and conversation-starter articles .

Before launching Blue Avocado, Jan was the Executive Director of CompassPoint, a consulting, research, and training organization providing nonprofits with management tools, strategies, and resources. While in that position, Jan was named Nonprofit Executive of the Year by The Nonprofit Times in 2003.

According to CAN’s press release, Jan joins the organization at a time of “re-imagining” and will begin in her new position starting January 2, 2012.

NCG congratulates Jan on her new position and we look forward to seeing how CAN re-imagines its work in the coming year.
